Stewart Stars Saxton has a relationship with numbers and symbols. From his
original vision in 1967 he was
able to see the correlation between numbers and symbols. He used this medium in
translating the information he had become aware of. Thus the works that followed
are expressions of that energy.
Stewart saw the "Spiral of Life" in a vision in 1967. The work on the
Spiral of Life", also known as, "The Peace Bomb" was started in 1967 and brought to completion
in July 1974.
"The Spiral of life", was originally known, as "The Peace Bomb"
when the work was first completed. The Chrome Steel Pyramid it hangs in was completed in 1977.
"The
Healing Pyramid" has very positive healing powers, and is also known as " The Mystical Pyramid".
One decade of dedication and hard work were necessary for the "Spiral of Life"
and "The Healing Pyramid" to be brought
to completion.
In his vision, Stewart saw into the polished steel spiral of "The Spiral of Life" and
envisioned the magnetic field that
mimicked the same magnetic field in humans. The spiralic pattern can be seen in
many earth patterns throughout nature, from our fingertips to the spiral in the
hair on top of our heads. Actually, the spiral in the hair is approximately 23
degrees off of the center axis of our bodies, the same as magnetic north is from
the axis of earth. The heavenly force enters the head at 23 degrees off center,
and exits in the genital area at 23 degrees off center in the opposite
direction. After 7 years of working on "The Spiral of Life", Stewart went to the
store and bought a compass. He held the compass in these places he envisioned on
"The Spiral of Life", and behold, magnetic energy was reversed at these points.
His vision was proved correct. The northern lights are the same 23 degrees off
center of the earth's axis. We see logarithmic spirals every day, they are our
foundation. All parts of this work are done to represent the levels, planes and
symbols of the human soul. It sits in non-judgment of all activity. It is the
pure foundation of the energies of human existence. These energies
present in "The Spiral of Life" confirm the presence of deeper meanings
of the life forces contained within this amazing work.
For Stewart to bring this work to completion an inward journey was of paramount importance. Through meditation his journey into to heart center was of paramount importance and brought about his vision of the "The Crystal Caves". The mystical caves of the soul are endless and the walls of these caves are made of diamonds. Each diamond having a world of its own within. All of the happenings of existence are recorded in these caves, they are the DNA spiral. This place is the center of the soul, the center of the self, the most valued entity in existence. A place of pure peace where there is no tension and all is true love. Describing such a place is difficult and to visually create a work to describe it is even more difficult. With the help of "Major Five", we have done our best to bring this place of pure peace into a 3-dimensional work of art. The object being to use this work as a springboard to see ourselves in and how we relate to the 4th dimension. These ideas are related to the teachings as expressed in Advaita Vedanta. "The Spiral of Life" exists in presence always, a vortex of pure peace.
This work of art is a sculpture made of polished steel, polished brass, glass, crystal, stone and wood. The height is 60 inches and the width is 26 inches. The Spiral of Life hangs in a chrome steel pyramid 11 square foot at the base, and 7 feet 6 inches in height with a mirror-polished chrome steel pyramid cap. The work represents a 3- dimensional image of the human soul. As far as is known, it is the only one of its kind in this world. The magnetic field mimics the magnetic field of the human form. This work has the healing qualities known within, to be present with pyramid energy. The four primary colors are used to enlighten the work and bathe it in soothing and healing color.
The sculpture is a symbol of unity, a coming
together of the positive forces for the enlightenment of all. It is a self-contained vortex that represents symbolically all of the divergent entities that
are the soul of humanity. The vortex is contained within the steel spiral of
energy and it's movement is ascending. The steel spiral denotes the cosmic rays
in motion and brings about the relationship between unity and multiplicity. It
is the energy of and represents the serpent, the symbol of wisdom and eternity.
The ascending spiral is the sun energy, and descending spiral is the moon
energy. The spiral has a symbolic serpent with the head at the top and the body spiraling
downward to the tail at the bottom ending It in a 9-pointed gold star. This
represents the awakening of the serpent's power as in the Kundalini energy
of the Tantrist doctrine. This vortex also represents the double spiral as seen in the
eastern philosophy of Yin and Yang. Within the vortex are placed signs and
symbols that give us the mathematical keys to the mysteries of humans and the
universe. From this point, let us take the Progression of Numbers (the whole
numbers one through nine) and review them for their individual attributes.
ONE: Let us take each number in order, there is but one "Spiral of Life". There
is one "Peace Bomb". There is one chrome steel pyramid that holds "The Spiral
of Life" and makes up one whole unit. There is one central stellated
dodecahedron of mirrored glass made up of 12 interlaced 5-pointed stars. There
is each one of us. There is one humanity. All is one and one is all. We are all
one. The light is one. Throughout the universe all light is from the same one
source, just as the candle flame is the same as the flame in the sun. Its
essence is power and energy and is the image of heaven as the creative. All
things are part of the one. From one grows the essence of two.
TWO: When we are able to see the one, there is the observer and the observed, thus begetting the balance of opposites, and the polarity of yin and yang forces. There is top and bottom, there is up and down, there is over and under. There is the light and the dark. There are two light globes in "The Spiral of Life", the light above is the yang force and the light below is the yin force. There is the beginning and there is the end. There is man and there is women. The opposites attract and beget the essence of three.
THREE: There are three centers of light in the work, it is the triangle. In "The Spiral of Life" there is the light above, the light below, and the white light in the center. The white light in the center emanates from the central star mass, just as we receive white light energy from the sun. There are four triangles, one on each face of the pyramid. There is the top, the bottom, and the space in between. This a where three arises as spirit, mind, and body. The father is the creator, the mother is the receptive and the child is the coming together of the life force. The trinity is the father, the mother and the child. The trinity is seen in many ways. In religion, it is The father, The Son and the Holy Ghost. There is the past, the future and the present, as the now, with the now being where presence is. Being in the present is to be in a place of peace and tranquility. This trinity of light is enclosed in one whole unit and this begets the essence of four.
FOUR: The square at the base of the pyramid grows from the four triangles on the pyramid sides. Each triangle represents one of the seasons. Spring, where life is born, summer where life comes of age, fall where life goes into decline, and Winter where life ends only to be reborn again. In "The Spiral of Life" there is a cosmic cross made of two steel plates from which the internal symbols grow (also known as the 10,000 things). Four is symbolic of the earth with the four directions. It is the foundation of life, the basic building block. From the mystic cross grow the essence of five.
FIVE: The pyramid has five points. The four corners at the base join the center point to give us the five points of life. The four cardinal points and the center form five. Five represents humans with four extremities and the head, the four fingers and the thumb on each hand, and the four toes and the big toe on each foot. There are five holes on the face. Humans have five main upper and five main lower organs. The five senses and the five elements bring humans to fulfillment. The Pyramid has five points. The central-mirrored star mass in "The Spiral of Life" has 12 interlaced five pointed stars. Humans are a system of fives. As stated the stellated dodecahedron contains 12 interlaced 5-pointed stars. These interlaced stars represent the completion of the Zodiac in humans, but humans must have more than flesh to exist, and this begets the essence of six.
SIX: From the five of the body arises the
six of intellect. The central star mass, when hung by one point and started to
spin, forms a six-pointed star when viewed from the side. The six-pointed star
can be seen on each steel plate in the center of "The Spiral of Life". The
stellated dodecahedron is attached to a small motor and spins continually at one
revolution per minute. The star has spun continually in "The Spiral of Life"
since 1974.
The six-pointed star is made up of the interlaced triangles of personality (the
psychic and the physical triangles) and the interlaced triangles of individuality
(the triangles of mind and reason). In the "I Ching" (one of the oldest works of
Chinese literature) there are six steps to heaven. As in the "I Ching"
(Wilhelm
Baynes version), it states all movements are in six steps and the seventh brings
return. This begets the essence of seven.
SEVEN: There are seven inner levels in "The Spiral of Life". These levels are as represented as in the Seven Bodies and Seven Chakras. The bodies are, The Physical (earth, physical), The Etheric (water, emotional) The Astral (fire, ego), The Mental (air, social), The Spiritual (sound, creative), The Cosmic (light, self) and The Nirvanic (thought, self knowledge). The Seven Chakras in Hindu are The Muladhara, The Svadisthana, The Manipura, The Anahata, The Visuddha, The Ajna, and The Sahasrara. There are seven days in the week and the seventh day brings return. In the ocean, each seventh wave is a larger wave. Seven represents "what you put in, is what you get in return". Thus arises the essence of eight.
EIGHT: Eight is the infinite pat we travel to, seek enlightenment. Eight is the double cube forming the fulfillment of man's dreams. The cross is doubled, giving us the eight directions, north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest. These eight directions also represent the eight trigrams in the "I Ching". These represent the coming together of the family, in which all social relationships are to be found. Eight is infinity and the strength to endure. Eight is the cube, doubled, and represents both the higher and lower planes. It is the two interlaced serpents, signifying the balancing of the opposite forces. It is the spiral of the DNA. The DNA is a based on the golden section (pie) and the pattern for all life. When the fulfillment of life is reached, the essence of nine arises.
NINE: Nine is the highest degree to which man may attain on this level. In it is contained the triangle of the ternary. It symbolizes the creation of spirit out of matter and the active life out of the inactive life. Each triplisity of the nine is the syntheses of the lower, central, and higher planes of consciousness. The nine points in the tail of the serpent represent this triplisity. This is the last frontier from which man returns to unite with the mystic spirit to be born again, to be renewed. As in the Tarot, IX The Hermit, whose light is veiled is initiated into the new way. where the light shines bright again.
The Tarot is represented with 56 hanging bead strands, one for each of the lesser arcana. Within the 7 levels described previously there are 22 sections that represent the Greater Arcana. The tarot trumps, are the keys to the evolution of life. From top to bottom there are nine levels representing (as in Tibetan understanding) the chakras or vortexes and are as follows. The 1st is the Pineal (the crown), 2nd is the Pituitary (the third eye), 3rd is the Thyroid (the throat), 4th is the Thymus (the chest), 5th is the Solar Plexus (the rib cage), 6this the Adrenals (behind the Solar Plexus), 7th is the Pancreas (right of the Solar Plexus), 9 is the Root (the base of the Spine). These vortexes are the bases for Tibetan medicine. The round glass mirrors on the outer edges of "The Spiral of Life" are energy exchange points similar to that of "The Tetraktys in Pythagoreans" as a symbol of creation. There are many more symbols and mysteries within the "Spiral of Life", "The Peace Bomb". We have tried to show there is a relationship of all things with one another. All energy arises from the same void at the command of the great force. Life is there for all, all is one and one is all. We are all one. We all are.
